Global Warmings!

Can you believe it? Aiden is already almost 14 months old. I am continually amazed at how fast he is growing and how everyday I notice some new little something he does. He has developed a fiercly independent personality. Aiden is walking now and it is really funny to see him scooting around the house. He actually walks around laughing at the fact that he is walking.

Of course, all animals now make a barking sound (according to Aiden) including rabits, squirrels and birds. He is a happy little guy and he and I are best buds!

For those enchanted with this charming little man and the story he presents about WMD, I’d like to first set the premise of Sada and how he fits into the Bush administration’s plan to win the hearts and minds of the world during the run up to war. If you haven’t heard his con, you can see him try to sell his book (which has little to do with any hidden secrets and is more about the brutality of Saddam) along with his WMD spiel on The Daily Show.

As posted on my blog back in February, 2006, memo minutes revealed that Bush and Blair met to discuss various strategies to do the following:

1. change world opinion to be in favor of the war to squelch the protests
2. provoke Saddam into an unequivocal breach

What does this have to do with Sada? In the two hour meeting with Tony Blair, Bush expressed the hope that a defector would be extracted from Iraq and give a “public presentation about Saddam’s WMD”. Sound familiar?

Here are the actual facts regarding Sada and his access to Saddam’s military infrastructure during the timeframe he claims to have seen WMD shipped to Syria. As you can see, there are huge holes in his story.

1. Sada had been retired from the Iraqi military for over 15 years (since 1986 - even prior to Desert Storm).

2. Sada does not know the names of the pilots that supposedly served under him that actually flew the sorties. This is odd because he claims to have had one on one conversations with them regarding the plans, chemicals shipped etc.

3. Sada is sponsored by the Ambassador Speakers Bureau — Ambassador is a “Christian” organization that provides speakers who rail against abortion, who praise Gee Dubya, who denounce Democrats, and who speak on the typical “religious right” themes.

4. Sada’s book was published by “Integrity Publishers,” a far-right publishing house that cranks out fringe, poorly-researched flops that end up in the bargain bin after a week.

5. He claims that all this WMD was moved by air and by ground convoy to Syria in mid-2000 — the same time the US and the Brits were clamping down on the no-fly zones in Iraq and would have put a stop to such air and ground traffic.

6. US intel has nothing to do with him because they checked him out a long time ago and found that he has fabricated his claims.

7. The White House as issued a statement confirming Sada’s claims are false which Fox news (the mouthpiece of the GOP) has amazingly reported. White House quote: No Evidence Iraq Moved WMD to Syria Condoleezza Rice said, “Any indication that something like that happened would be a very serious matter.”But I want to be very clear: we don’t, at this point, have any indications that I would consider credible and firm that that has taken place, but we will tie down every lead,”

8. Sada is now a national security adviser in Iraq’s new government. I find this an obvious conflict of interest and severely damages his credibility since he is on the ‘payroll’. I also find this odd since he was a top military commander for Saddam. Isn’t his picture supposed to be on a deck of cards?

9. David Kay, who as head of the Iraq Survey Group (ISG), led the CIA’s hunt for WMD in Iraq until December 2003, made headlines in January 2004 when he asserted that pre-war intelligence on Iraq’s WMD had been “almost all wrong.” The bulk of the evidence really points to — that things did go to Syria, but they weren’t weapons of mass destruction or weapons material.” He said there is “no evidence” that Iraq ever produced any large amounts of chemical nerve agents after 1991. “In fact, all the evidence is just the opposite.”

Kay was succeeded by Charles Duelfer, whose 1,500-page October 2004 report on WMD bore many similarities. “There were no WMD stockpiles; my conclusion, Charles Duelfer’s conclusion,” Kay said. He and Duelfer asserted that Saddam’s regime maintained a vague intention to resume WMD production at some point and for that reason had attempted to hold on to “intellectual capital” related to the programs.

In conclusion, those of you still hanging your hats on the possibility that GeeDubya is going to find WMD in Iraq, had just better hang it up for good. As for me, “fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” It’s okay.. I think we all knew where Bushy was heading with that one anyway!

Ever wonder if the GOP’s overbearing and intrusive convictions regarding family values, ultra conservative / constrictive views about what kind of sex and/or sexual positions people can enjoy and which sexual orientations they think are ‘against nature / God’s will’, are in most cases some type of overcompensated smokescreen designed to throw the public off of their own Freudian sexual dysfunctions? In my opinion, this is the case. People that have repressed delinquent sexual dysfunctions are generally those that scream the loudest against the social issues and or crimes related to, or that remind them of that behavior. In psycho-babble, this is called a “behavioral trigger“.

To make my point, I have posted (from the Randi Rhodes’ website) all the felony sexual assault charges against minors and child pornography scandals that have rocked the GOP over the last five years. So, the next time you’re voting for a candidate that runs for office on the premise of anti-gay, married sex only, anti-sex education and/or anti-woman’s right to choose, you should not only seriously question your own beliefs (and possibly see a sexual counselor about possible issues) but even more so question the motivations and possible repressed sexual nature of the politicians running under those platform issues.

As opposed to the Democratic party during the Clinton years which had only TWO child molestation cases (1. David Giles - Democrat - candidate for U.S. Representative from Washington in 1986 and 1990. Convicted in June 2000 of child rape. 2. Neil Goldschmidt - Democrat - Oregon governor. Admitted to having an illegal sexual relationship with a 14-year-old teenager while he was serving as Mayor of Portland.), the GOP seems to be as riddled with sexual perverts as has been the Catholic church in recent years.

Listed below is a summary of only the crimes that were GOP member sexual assault on minors. I am leaving out “Hypocrite: US Congressman David Dreier Exposed: closeted homosexual Republican who oppose civil rights for gay people” intentionally since that is not actually a crime but helps prove my point nonetheless.

First of all, we have the late breaking news about Brian Doyle (Homeland Security Press Secretary): ” A Homeland Security Department spokesman was held Wednesday on felony charges of sexually preying on a detective posing as a 14-year-old girl through explicit online conversations. He was quickly suspended without pay….Doyle is accused of 23 felony charges related to sexually graphic conversations with what he thought was a teenage girl, who was in fact an undercover Florida detective. The charges, lodged Tuesday night by the Polk County, Fla., Sheriff’s Department, included 16 counts of sending pornographic movie clips to a minor.” What the news media doesn’t tell you is that the under-cover officer told Doyle that she was suffering from cancer. However, this didn’t stop him from not only sending her candy along with pictures of himself in the nude.

Arkansas - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Joshua Dickens, Republican Constable of Faulkner County.
Disposition: Severly beat, burned, handcuffed and kidnapped woman he was in a relationship with. Sentenced 5 yrs, could be released within 1 year. After the trial, a 16-year-old girl, also made accusations to the police that she had been sexually assaulted by the young man.

California - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Howard L. Brooks, Republican legislative aide and advisor to a California assemblyman,
Disposition: charged with molesting a 12-year old boy and possession of child pornography.

Colorado - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Larry D Floyd (R-Denton County Constable)
Disposition: Arrested charged with one count of soliciting for child prostitution, three counts of enticement of a child and three counts of attempted sexual assault on a child.

Connecticut - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Philip Giordano, former Republican mayor of Waterbury, CT,
Disposition: convicted of forcing two 8 and 10 year old girls to perform oral sex on him. Sentenced to 37 years.

Washington DC - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Mark Grethen, a longtime GOP activist and fundraiser. He was to be honored in Washington D.C. as “Republican of the Year” – an honor bestowed upon him by Representative Tom Davis of Virginia.
Disposition: convicted of six sex crimes involving raping children. He’s scheduled to be in the Deep Meadow Correctional Facility until September 25, 2024.

Florida - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: John Burt (FL)-Anti-Abortion Activist
Disposition: convicted last year of molesting a 15-year-old resident at Our Father’s House, which he and his wife operated near Milton.

Georgia - Scandal, Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Hypocrite: Matthew Glavin, head of the Southeastern Legal Foundation–a right-wing group and self-appointed morals cop, which most recently brought suit to disbar President Clinton in Arkansas.
Exposed: pleaded guilty to a charge of public indecency. An undercover federal officer spotted him indulging in the sin of Onan al fresco, on a trail in the Chattahoochee National River Park near Atlanta. Glavin then made advances to the officer, who arrested him. No doubt pornography brought him to his low state–probably reading the steamier passages of the Starr report.

Hawaii - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Former Hawaii County Councilman Keola Childs
Disposition: pleaded guilty in Kona Circuit Court to sexual assault in the first degree for molesting a male child last year.

Illinois - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Republican Congressman, Dan Crane(R-IL), Married, father, had sex with a minor congressional page.

Indiana - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Earl “Butch” Kimmerling, a representative of the Christian community and temporary foster parent.
Disposition: he confessed to molesting an 8-year old girl and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Maine - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Merrill Robert Barter(R-County Commissioner)
Disposition: pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual contact and assault on a teenage boy.

Minnesota - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Jon Grunseth(former Republican candidate for Governor)
Disposition: withdrew his candidacy for Minnesota governor after allegations surfaced that he went swimming in the nude with four underage girls, including his daughter.

Missouri - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Kevin Coan, Republican St. Louis Election Board official,
Disposition: arrested and charged with trying to buy sex from a 14-year-old girl whom he met on the Internet.

Montana - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Richard A. Dasen Sr.,Businessman, Christian Financial Counseling, Republican benefactor of conservative Christian groups
Disposition: found guilty of raping a 15-year old girl. Dansen, 62, told police that over the past decade he paid more than $1 million to have sex with a large number of young

Nebraska - Scandal, Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Lawrence E. “Larry” King, Jr.
Disposition: alleged to have been involved in, or the leader of, a child-sex group in Nebraska in the 1990s. 80 children initially came forward to testify, including orphans from ‘Boys Town’, against Lararence E. King, Jr. and several prominenet citizens of Omaha. Many of these children recanted their testimony under duress.

Nevada - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Republican Assembly candidate Richard Gardner(forced to withdraw from race.)
Disposition: sexually abused his daughter, who was about 12 when the crime was committed in May 1982. Child molestation in 1983 against another daughter under the age of 14 in California.

New Hampshire - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Mark Seidensticker, a campaign aide of Raymond Burton, Executive Councilor
Disposition: U.S. Sen. John Sununu is calling for the resignation Raymond Burton, a fellow Republican, for having hired aide, Mark Seidensticker, with an extensive criminal record. Mark Seidensticker, 45, of Concord and Ogunquit, Maine, was arrested last month in Concord, accused of inappropriate contact with teenage boys. Based on that arrest, Burton said last week he no longer will employ Seidensticker, who is being held on $50,000 bail at the Merrimack County jail.

New Jersey - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
And then there’s anti-abortion crusader Nicholas Morency, who recently pled guilty to offering a $1.5 million contract to anyone who would murder an abortion provider. In the course of the investigation, authorities also turned up a computer packed with child pornography. Morency’s perception of reality seems all screwed up – with him thinking zygotes are children, and children are sexual beings without the right to childhood.

Disposition: placed under house arrest. Charge of using his city-issued cell phone to persuade, induce, entice, and coerce minors to engage in sexual acts.He could face a sentence of five to 30 years in prison.

Ohio- Scandal, Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation Target: David Swartz (R-Richland County Commissioner)
Disposition: Swartz pleads guilty in court to felony sex charges involving a teenage, girl whose assault lasted 10 yrs. He faces up to 10 years in prison at an upcoming sentencing. 2nd investigation involving another child has not gone to trial, yet.

Oregon - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Louis Beres, 70, denied any criminal conduct in a statement posted Monday on www.coalition.org. Beres said he will pursue “the Biblical response” and do all within his power “to reconcile with that person.”

Pennsylvania - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: John R. Curtin of Allentown, State Republican committeeman
Disposition: charged with “involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault, furnishing liquor to minors, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor” on August 19, 2005. He allegedly rented a motel room and threw a beer bash for several boys between the ages of 13 and 17. He got the boys thoroughly smashed…and sodomized one of them. GOP “moral values” at work.

Puerto Rico - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Edison Misla Aldarondo (R-Speaker of the State House of Reps)
Disposition: sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping his daughter between the ages of 9 and 17.

South Carolina - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Beverly Russell, County Chairman of the Christian Coalition, sexually molested his step-daughter, Susan Smith, who later drowned her two children.

Tennessee - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Keith Westmoreland (TN)-State Rep R-Kingsport,
Disposition: arrested last week in Florida on seven felony counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition to minors under 16 and is free on $3,500 bond, Walton County, Fla., Sheriff Ralph Johnson said yesterday.

Texas - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography, Scandal
Investigation: Sam Walls, candidate for Texas House
Disposition: Photos of him wearing women’s clothes surfaced in the 2004 runoff campaign

Wisconsin - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation: Mark Harris (R- City Councilman)
Disposition: who is described as a “good military man” and “church goer,” was convicted of repeatedly having sex with an 11-year-old girl and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Kentucky - Sexual Assault, Child Pornography
Investigation:Bobby Stumbo, a former Floyd County republican leader
Disposition: Charged with sexually abusing a five year old boy.

The Antarctic ice sheet is losing as much as 36 cubic miles of ice a year in a trend that scientists link to global warming, according to a new paper that provides the first evidence that the sheet’s total mass is shrinking significantly.

The new Antarctic measurements, using data from two NASA satellites called the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE), found that the amount of water pouring annually from the ice sheet into the ocean — equivalent to the amount of water the United States uses in three months — is causing global sea level to rise by 0.4 millimeters a year. The continent holds 90 percent of the world’s ice, and the disappearance of even its smaller West Antarctic ice sheet could raise worldwide sea levels by an estimated 20 feet.

“The ice sheet is losing mass at a significant rate,” said Isabella Velicogna, the study’s lead author and a research scientist at Colorado University at Boulder’s Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences. “It’s a good indicator of how the climate is changing. It tells us we have to pay attention.”
